College Stories #4

Chores

So growing up, my sisters and I had chores, and one of my chores was yard work. So I’m still living at home after high school and I still have these chores. One weekend day, as I’m walking from my car to the campus library to study, I get a call from my dad yelling at me because the lawn wasn’t mowed. Since I’m already at the library, I said that I’ll mow the lawn later, which gets him even more upset and he demands that I mow the lawn immediately, knowing that I hadn’t even walked into the library yet. And he would always say “school comes first.” So I get upset because the drive to campus was a waste. So I drive back home and as I’m approaching the house, I see my dad mowing the lawn, and he’s just mugging me; and it’s not like I took my sweet time to get back home, I was actually trying to not waste anymore time. So I put my stuff away and figured I’ll start cleaning the backyard. I go to the backyard… and the backyard is clean. By the time I’m ready to start cleaning the yard, the whole yard is clean and there’s nothing left for me to do. Confusing, right?
