On my way to boot camp
So since my ship date was less than a month away from my swear in date, I only went to one monthly meeting at the recruiter’s office where all recruits meet. When I was given my file folder, it didn’t have the privacy statement on the front like all the other file folders. It could be because I was new, or not; it could also be an implicit message to me saying that I was going to continued to be cyberstalked, which I was really hoping wouldn’t continue; I couldn’t imagine how it would.
My car was already sold and I was unemployed, so all I had to do was pack, and I didn’t need much. I didn’t want to say bye to my parents, since at that point, I was only talking to them through my sister. So the day before I leave, my stepmom knocks on my door and asks if I was going to say bye, and I said yeah, of course! So we kinda said bye then. Then on the day I was going to leave my dad asks if he can talk to me. So he says some stuff, and then he says he hopes he can still be a part of my life; strange, right? He gets kind of emotional and gives me a hug, and I’m thinking “ew gross, get away from me, you’re super fake.” Then the recruiter shows up early, and then my sister starts like seriously crying, but it was fake, and I’m thinking “I can’t wait to leave.” Then my dad walks out and starts talking to the recruiter, and I’m thinking “WTF, man.” Then I get into the car as my dad is talking to the recruiter, and he tells me “find your way home,” whatever that means. Then we drive away, and I was like “phew, thank God!”
So the recruiter takes me to the recruiter office and I wait there with other recruits who are shipping as well. There’s another recruiter there and he’s talking to us recruits about boot camp and what to expect there and after. During this talk, he mentions how some people after boot camp don’t go to the cafeteria to eat and how his roommate would order pizza every day. He’s also implicitly poking at my insecurities and before we leave he says “like that,” as if to say that’s how to bully me. I think to myself, whatever dude, dealing with jerks is nothing new, but at the same time, I was really hoping to get away from abusive behavior. From there we go to a hotel to stay the night before shipping. So on ship day, we go to the processing center, get our plane ticket and food voucher, then we, a group of recruits, go to the airport. When I was on the airplane, there was this guys sitting behind me and he kept on hitting my seat, intentionally, like trying to bully me. This couldn’t have been random. Instead of getting mad, I took pictures of him, LOL:
Anyway, so we finally get to our destination and it’s already late. So before we line up with the Navy, we’re told to use our food voucher, so we go to McDonald’s and I order a Big Mac meal. Before I start eating, I have to line up the patty with the buns because they are offset. When I lift the top bun, I see that the patty has a hole in it. So that’s when I realize that my family is already starting to harass me thousands of miles away from home. See, my sister would buy this bread and it would have holes in it, large enough so that peanut butter would get through. So my sister crying was super fake because now she’s telling people to threaten me from a distance. So I got kinda upset and angrily threw my garbage away. But then girls were quick to flirt with me to be nice to me. It was after this that I figured people knew I was here. People tend to say “he’s here” to let me know that I’m well known. Anyway, so we finally go line up with the Navy and we wait for a bus to take us to boot camp. There were more and more groups of recruits who were arriving from other states. It seemed like many of them already knew who I was and were expecting me. How does that happen?
